Conservative Candidate Bob Holden jumps to victory after final vote count in Queens City Council rac

BY ERIN DURKIN NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

Challenger Bob Holden came out on top after all the votes were counted in a hotly contested Queens City Council race, besting incumbent Elizabeth Crowley.

Holden held a 137 vote lead in the final count after the Board of Elections tallied the absentee and affidavit ballots Wednesday in the race for the district, which covers Glendale, Maspeth and Middle Village, sources said. The results will not be certified until November 28.

Holden, the head of a neighborhood civic association, is a registered Democrat who ran on the Republican line after failing in a primary challenge, and a harsh critic of Mayor de Blasio.

His lead after the paper ballots were counted was little changed from election night, when he led by 133 votes.

A rep for Crowley confirmed her opponent's margin held.
